Qualcomm AbilityQ

April is autism awareness month! Through Qualcomm's All Abilities Inclusion Network we are participating in NFAR’s Race for Autism to raise money to support their mission of improving the lives of those with autism. We invite you to join our team, either as a race participant (you can walk, run, or participate "virtually") or through a donation.

Qualcomm has been working with NFAR (National Foundation for Autism Research) for a number of years, and they were our partner for establishing Qualcomm’s autism at work program, where the company hired NFAR tech graduates as full time employees.

The money NFAR raises through the Race for Autism helps fund the services NFAR provides in San Diego, including:

1) NFAR tech, a seven month class to help prepare young adults with autism for the workforce through technical training, teaching workplace etiquette, and assisting the graduates with finding internships (nfar.org/what-we-do/nfar-tech)

2) NFAR cyber, a 9 month cybersecurity vocational training program for young adults with autism, and assisting the graduates with finding employment (nfar.org/what-we-do/nfar-cyber)

3) Individual grants to special education teachers to buy supplies, get additional training, and implement new programs in the classroom (nfar.org/what-we-do/teacher-grants)

4) Community grants to schools and special needs organizations to conduct research, build new facilities, and implement large scale programs (nfar.org/what-we-do/community-projects)

5) Support groups, special needs education, and training for parents and caretakers of those with special needs
